Music Is Life… That’s Why Our Hearts Have Beats 🎶
All it takes is 1 song to bring back 1,000 memories...
Music, for me, has been a constant companion throughout my life. It has lifted me up on a daily basis and it has also hit me right in the feels and had tears streaming down my cheeks on more than a handful of occasions.
Maybe it’s my Irish and Scottish heritage that makes me feel the beat a little more, who knows? In previous centuries, music and storytelling were the only forms of entertainment for the Irish and Scottish people. I know that my Granny, who was 1/2 Irish and 1/2 Scottish, was always dancing about. In fact, my Mom told me that when she was with her as she was passing over to the other side, she was swaying in her hospital bed...Get ready, this is a bit of a tear-jerker...My Mom asked her what she was doing...her reply was, “ I’m dancing with your father.” (Sigh). I can picture it as clear as day, my Grandad in his blue suit and my Granny in her long tartan kilt, dancing to the music ♥️
Family gatherings were always filled with music and dancing. I can see my Mom and Grandad very clearly playing the accordion, my Gram sitting behind the organ and my Great Uncle Don playing the banjo. Memories that I will forever hold close to my heart.
Now it’s my brother and my niece Krissy, strumming away on their guitars if we’re lucky. It makes me very happy to see them play together with the rest of us singing along...Although I wasn’t blessed with a great singing voice, it doesn’t stop me from singing loud and proud;)
If you didn’t have that growing up, it isn’t too late...A good old-fashioned kitchen dance party never hurt anyone;)
Just planting a seed here...There are quite a few artists out there at the moment who are dying to play ANYWHERE. Nobody said you can’t hire someone for a few hours to play in your backyard or open garage with social distancing in effect. Fire me a message and I can set that up for you, if you’d like.
The music page I made here on my website will have a weekly playlist filled with random artists that bring joy and often nostalgic memories to me, and I would like to share those good feelings.
I am in the process of upgrading my iPad so I can have a playlist and you just touch on it and it will go straight to Spotify. In the meantime, you can find my Spotify link at the bottom of my website...If you’re a Spotify user, it’ll be easy...If you aren’t...you should probably get it, just sayin’ ;)
I hope you truly enjoy the music as much as I do ♥️
